The Empire Club of Canada Presents:
Being Older in 2020: The Modern Joys And Risks Of Aging

We are living longer, but at what risk? COVID-19 has laid bare the health issues of congregate settings in long-term care. Will society care when the crisis is over? Will the delivery of a robust home and community care system like other countries have done be on the table? Could this make a difference?

As a society, we all know we must do better. As the Boomer’s move into true senior-hood will ageism continue to affect the kind of care our loved ones, or we, receive? There are many joys in aging such as kinship with family and friends and the ability to pursue rewarding work. The opportunities for travel and adventure abound. Let’s ensure that we consider all the options open to us to live fully and joyfully at any age with whatever health challenges we may face.

An all-star panel will tackle the complicated questions of ageing and ageism in modern society and help to spotlight how we can better support the incredible mentors in each of our lives.
