The Empire Club of Canada Presents:
Fresh Faces of Federal Politics Panel

This panel discussion, moderated by The Globe and Mail’s Marieke Walsh, dove into into the 2019 MPs’ leap into politics, election wins and plans for the 2020 legislative session and the years ahead.

The 2019 federal election resulted in a number of fresh faces heading to Parliament Hill. Among those newly elected Members of Parliament were an activist, an Olympian and a mayor who also happened to be his party’s first MP elected as openly gay. Mumilaaq Qaqqaq (NDP), Adam van Koeverden (Liberal) and Eric Duncan (Conservative) represented a new generation of parliamentarians whose diverse perspectives and lived experiences inform the Canadian political landscape in unique ways.

Moderator:
Marieke Walsh, Parliamentary Reporter, The Globe and Mail

Panelists:
Eric Duncan, Member of Parliament for Stormont—Dundas—South Glengarry, Conservative Party of Canada

Mumilaaq Qaqqaq, Member of Parliament for Nunavut, Canada’s New Democratic Party

Adam van Koeverden, Member of Parliament for Milton, Liberal Party of Canada
